Mel Hart is a vibrant, established performing artist from Toronto. With over a decade of experience as competitive figure skater, paralleled with her education in Classical Ballet and Contemporary dance, and passion for Street and Latin dance styles, she has a widened vocabulary and brings a unique perspective to the stage.

With a BFA Degree in Dance, from York University, Hart has produced, directed and choreographed her own contemporary modern dance shows: End(less) Ways, at the Maclean Performance Studio and the things I love, at the Scotiabank Studio Theatre.  Hart and Samantha Schleese have established their own contemporary dance company, SaMel Tanz, and have produced shows for Toronto Fringe Festival and Next Stage Festival with That “F” Word rated NNNN from NOW Magazine and 3 out 4 stars from the Globe and Mail.  

Hart is a member of Toronto’s all female Hip Hop Dance Crew DEUCEnDIP, (credits: WE DAY, MUCHMUSIC’s New. Music. Live shows, Canada’s Walk of Fame, World Pride). Taking her versatility across borders she has also danced at international festivals such as Glastonbury and Wireless UK music festivals, APTN’s Aboriginal Day Live Festival, and performed for international artists like Jason Derulo, Hedley and Sean Paul. 

While she has many TV appearances under her belt, Hart takes the most pride in being an arts educator for youth outreach programs.  Working with Unity Charity, Hart has taught many workshops across Canada, inspiring and mentoring students in the art of dance and self-expression.
